Progress is progress, no matter how small!
Before I get into this post, I’d just like to clarify what I was saying in my previous post… A couple of people have said to me that they thought it meant it doesn’t look like I’ll be going to America this year. I’m sorry if that’s the impression I gave but it wasn’t what I intended! What I simply meant to say was that due to the amount of uncertainties that are currently surrounding my trip, it would be stupid of me to not consider the possibility of it not happening this year. That does not mean in anyway way that I’m not continuing my efforts to reach America this year, I want this trip to work out, so so so much!
Now! Back to the update!
Last time I said I’d do the following in the next two to four weeks:
- Better and more activity on social media – including Instagram
- Selling my photography and unwanted things
- Getting the ball rolling with my permission to fly.
Here’s how I got on.
Better and more activity on social media – including Instagram
I think, I hope, I’m doing better… but that’s not really for me to judge… what do you think? Let me know in the comments! I have though, joined Instagram! I pledged to myself that from the day of my first picture I would post everyday – it lasted 5 days. Yesterday I had nothing interesting going on and had no inspiration, so I didn’t post. But hey! Rules are there to be broken right?
If you would like to follow me on Instagram, my username is katelivethedream!

Selling my photography and unwanted things
Thanks to a wonderful friend of mine, I’m so much closer to getting this out there! My friend and I spent Saturday afternoon sorting through my A Level exhibition photos, working out what ones we think would sell, then taking photos of them. It was a fun afternoon. As I don’t have a photography studio we had to improvise. To cut a long story short, we ended up in my bathroom….
The photo really doesn’t do the the set up any justice! The hoist on the right is there to block one of the spot lights on the ceiling and behind the sheet is about half a dozen or so cushions propped up against the mirror, with a tray covering the sink…
I’ve now edited the photos and I’ll have the pricing worked out by the end of the week. I hope to have my online shop (whatever website that might be) open by February. That’s depending on how quickly I get my act together and if I’ve worked out how to post the prints. In terms of selling my unwanted things – not so much progress – but it’ll happen soon!
Getting the ball rolling with my permission to fly
This is the point I’ve progressed the least on, but still progressed a little! On Friday 20th January I sent an email to the person who will hopefully help me fly without me needing to pay an extortionate amount of money. I’m yet to receive a reply, but I don’t expect one just yet. In the meantime I’m going to email my contact at Virgin Atlantic to arrange a time for me to try the seats so we know what we’re working with when I do fly. As always, I’ll keep you updated!
This is really exciting! After months of emailing many different wheelchair accessible vehicle hire companies, one replied!!! And it’s looking very hopeful!!! The person I’ve had an email conversation with has been really helpful and have answered my questions brilliantly. I’m just waiting on how/if they can do one way rentals. Fingers crossed everybody!! I’ll announce who they are when things are more confirmed.
I’m really pleased with what I’ve achieved in the last couple of weeks – I’ve even got this post out a day earlier than planned! I’ve just gotta keep going, keep pushing forward. I need to get greater exposure and publicity, if any of you have any ideas or contacts then I would love to hear from you! Either leave me a comment below or contact me on one of my various social medias. Remember also to tell me what you would like to see on my social media! Comment below!
Though what I’ve achieved in the passed two weeks hasn’t exactly been astronomical, it has helped things move in the right direction. I felt a little stuck before, now I feel things are moving again and I’m hopeful that it’s gonna remain that way!
Thank you so much for reading – it’s great to have you along for the ride!
Until next time… keep living those dreams!
